King's Bench: Order relating to punishment of Robert Leake, dated 1718.

  1. Oier and Terminer p[ro] Adjorn[amento] 26 die Apr[ilis] 1718
  2. It is ordered by this Court that Robert Leake who is now convicted
  3. upon an Indictment against him for a trespasse & Misdemeanour
  4. be and he is fined for the Said Offence three Shillings and
  5. fourpence, and that he be Stripped naked from the Middle
  6. upwards and publickly whipped at a Carts taile from a
  7. certaine place called Newington Bridge to and against
  8. the parish Church of the parish of Stoake Newington in
  9. this County (on Such day as the Sheriffe of this County Shall
  10. forthwith appoint) untill his body be bloody, and the Said
  11. Robert Leake is remanded and com[m]itted to his Ma[jes]ties
  12. Gaol of New prison at Clerkenwell in this County there to
  13. remaine without Bail or Mainprize for the Space of one
  14. fortnight and till he pay the Said Fine and undergo the
  15. Said punishment, then to be delivered paying his Fees
  16. 17 s 6 d p[ro] Cur[ia][?]
