Searching the corporate index
The simple corporate name search allows you to search both the Business and the Organisations Index for references to the records of businesses and organisations listed in the National Register of Archives. The references are listed according to the name of the company or organisation and not the function. Therefore, if you know the name of a company or organisation you can search for references to their records or papers listed in the indexes of the National Register of Archives.
For example, to find the references to the papers of Crown Life Assurance Co type in 'crown'. This should produce a list of results organised in alphabetical order, which includes a reference to Crown Life Assurance Co.
If you wish to search for businesses within a certain field you can use the Simple Corporate Search with a more generic term, such as assurance. However, this will produce a list of all companies or organisations with the word assurance in the name, which may be extensive. Moreover, relevant companies without assurance in the title will not be listed.
A more focused search can, therefore, be made using the Advanced Search of the Business Index or the Advanced Search of the Organisations Index.
