Browsing the personal index and diaries & papers index
This search option allows you to browse the indexes of the National Register of Archives (NRA) alphabetically.
The personal name search combines the Personal Index and the Diaries and Papers Index of the NRA. It provides information about the nature and location of the correspondence and papers of individuals.
To browse the Personal and Diaries and Papers indexes of the NRA select a letter from the links on the previous page and then select a second relevant letter. This will produce a list of individuals listed alphabetically according to surname, which begin with the two letters that were chosen.
For example, if you wish to find all references to individuals with the surname 'Beach' then you can click on 'B' followed by 'BE'. This will provide a list persons whose surname begins with BE, which would include 'Beach'.
NOTE: where a collection refers to an unnamed individual these entries can be viewed under 'Zz'. The majority of these entries can be identified by a descriptor, for example apothecary or farmer and a place name.
