The National Archives supports Religious Archives Conference
05 February 2007
The National Archives and the Religious Archives Group affiliated to the Society of Archivists are joining forces to stage a conference to consider ´The state of religious archives in the UK today´ at the British Library on 26 March.
The conference is intended to identify as far as possible the key issues and problems currently faced by religious archives and, in the final session to be chaired by The National Archives Chief Executive, Natalie Ceeney, to look at ways in which they might be tackled. There will be overviews of Anglican, Roman Catholic and Nonconformist archives by experts in these areas but also presentations on the Hindu Archive Project and a number of other important and wide-ranging case studies.
Following the conference, The National Archives and the Religious Archives Group will meet to discuss the best way forward. The conference is expected to have considerable strategic significance and should be of wide general interest.
