Report on 'Meet the Chief Executive Officer day' at Kew, 16 November 2006

14 December 2006

I really enjoyed meeting a wide range of readers and improved my understanding of how our services are perceived and where they might be improved. As a result I intend to make this an annual event!

Most people were incredibly positive about The National Archives  - about half said "this is a fantastic institution"; some, with international experience, said we were the "best archive in the world"; many praised individual staff members and services. However there were also many complaints and suggestions for changes. I have listed these below, together with our responses to them.

I should like to thank all those readers who took the trouble to give me their views. If you have further queries or suggestions please contact me or the relevant staff direct.

Natalie Ceeney,
Chief Executive Officer, The National Archives (natalie.ceeney@nationalarchives.gov.uk)
