New reader tickets with photographs

During June we will be introducing new reader tickets that will include a photograph of the ticket holder. Readers will not need to provide a photograph, as a picture will be taken as part of the ticket issuing process. We anticipate that there may be some delays in ticket issuing whilst we introduce the new system.

Existing reader tickets will continue to be valid up to the expiry date shown on the ticket. There are no changes to our list of acceptable proofs of identity that we require to see in order to issue a ticket.

This change is part of our ongoing improvement to our security practices, in order to protect both the records in our care, and readers who come to use them.
