The UK Government Web Archive holds archived websites going back to the late 1990s. Since this time, websites have become increasingly significant in government's interaction with the public. Technology has revolutionised the way in which this interaction takes place over the web and now everything from health awareness to information on regulation can be accessed online.

The National Archives, through its UK Government Web Archive and its Web Continuity initiative, has been working to ensure that this information remains available both for those looking for it today and in the future.

Watch the video above, which uses three examples to illustrate some of the changes that government websites have undergone over the past ten years. As the web evolves, so must the way in which government communicates and interacts with those it serves.
