Letter by Nelson sent to Evan Nepean, Secretary to the Admiralty, asking for employment, 6 November 1800
The day of his return to England, after a near five months overland journey which took in some of the major cities of Europe, an unemployed Nelson sent a letter to the Admiralty seeking employment. Perhaps Nelson did this to allay fears about his professional conduct and sense of duty.
