For Thomas de Brotherton, earl of Norfolk.

The king, greetings to the archbishops, etc. Know you that we have granted and by this our charter confirmed to our beloved and faithful Thomas de Brotherton, earl of Norfolk, our dearest brother, that he himself and his heirs may have forever one market on a Thursday each week at his manor of Saham in the county of Suffolk and one fair there each year that will last for three days, namely on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the week of Pentecost, unless that market and that fair may be a nuisance to the neighbouring markets and neighbouring fairs, and that they may have a free warren in all their demesne lands of the aforesaid manor and of Framelyngham, Hoo and Haccheton in the same county, nevertheless provided however that those may not be within the metes of our forest in such a way that no one may enter those lands to hunt in them or to take anything which pertains to the warren without the licence and will of the earl himself or of his heirs, upon forfeiture to us of ten pounds. Wherefore we wish and we firmly order for us and our heirs that the aforesaid earl and his heirs may have forever the aforesaid market and fair at his aforesaid manor of Saham with all liberties and free customs pertaining to this manor and fair, unless that market and that fair may be a nuisance to the neighbouring markets and neighbouring fairs, and that they may have a free warren in all his aforesaid demesne lands, provided however that, etc, so, etc, just as is aforesaid. With these witnesses: the venerable fathers Walter, archbishop of Canterbury, primate of the whole of England, Richard, bishop of Durham, Walter, bishop of Coventry and Lichfield, and Walter, bishop of Worcester, Humphrey de Bohun, earl of Hereford and Essex, Aymer de Valence, earl of Pembroke, Hugh le Despenser and others. Wherefore we wish and we firmly order for us and our heirs that the aforesaid Robert and his heirs may have forever a free warren in all their aforesaid demesne lands, provided however that, etc, so, etc, just as is aforesaid.
