We offer a one-day appraisal course for staff from government departments and public record bodies which transfer records to The National Archives. This course is not suitable for any other organisations or members of the public.

Appraisal training

This one-day course is for staff responsible for the appraisal and selection (review) of paper and digital records for preservation at The National Archives. The course covers both electronic and paper records appraisal.

  • Addressing the challenges of digital appraisal - what to keep 
  • Determining the value of your information 
  • Making paper appraisal more efficient

This training is a mixture of short presentations, practical exercises and opportunities for group discussion.

Courses are free of charge. Tea and coffee will be provided, but not lunch. Attendees are welcome to use The National Archives' restaurant.

Courses are held at The National Archives, Kew.
