Buildings and factories
This collection contains images of significant buildings, factories and workers from around the world, from the 19th century to mid-20th century. Photographs include overseas embassies, hotels, shops, bridges, schools and schoolchildren from the Victorian and early Edwardian era, as well as disasters such as fire and flood-damaged buildings. There are also many pictures of wartime and post-war housing in the mid-20th century, as well as interior design (see the Design section).
