Executive team
Chief Executive - Natalie Ceeney
Natalie has been Chief Executive of The National Archives since 2005. Her previous career spans the public and private sector, including roles at McKinsey & Company, the NHS and the British Library.
Natalie is responsible for leading all The National Archives' activities, from our government role through to providing services to the public. She is also the government's Head of Profession in Information and Knowledge Management, and visiting professor at the School of Library and Archive Science at University College London.
Director of Customer and Business Development - Oliver Morley
Before The National Archives, Oliver worked at Thomson Reuters, with global responsibility for improving information services for customers. Other responsibilities at Reuters included strategy for a £1.5 billion revenue Treasury business and regional sales management.
More widely, Oliver's experience combines strategy with a strong understanding of how to deliver what customers need from an information business. He has also worked in shipping and consulting industries and has an MBA from London Business School.
Director of Operations and Services - Jeff James
Jeff is responsible for providing and developing on site, online and remote services to the public and schools, and for the estates and its assets. He is also responsible for managing customer relations and maintaining service excellence at The National Archives.
Prior to joining The National Archives as Head of Advice and Records Knowledge in July 2007, Jeff had considerable operational and IT experience in both the private and university sector, more recently gained at the British Library.
Director of Technology and Chief Information Officer - David Thomas
David is responsible for information technology services at The National Archives, and is leading on the major cross-government project to develop a shared service for preserving digital records.
As Chief Information Officer, David also oversees the operation of the government's Knowledge Council.
Director of Information Policy and Services - Carol Tullo
Prior to joining the Cabinet Office in 1997, Carol practised law at the Bar in London and had a successful career in law and professional publishing. She is responsible for providing strong, coherent leadership in information management and policy both across government and the wider public sector.
Carol is a visiting professor in Information Science at City University, London and an executive committee member of the International Government Printing and Publishing Association.
Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development - Caroline Ottaway Searle
Caroline's experience of human resources and organisational development was gained in both the private and public sectors. She has held board-level roles as human resources director for a national charity, and organisational director of a large housing group.
As well as her broad operational human resources experience, Caroline has helped organisations to develop and change through leadership development, talent management and coaching, and staff engagement programmes.
