Other information

See entry for Park Prewett Hospital. Plastic surgery unit at Rooksdown opened in 1940 as the main army facial unit (mirroring RAF unit at East Grinstead and RN unit at Mount Vernon/St Albans). It continued to operate after the war as the SW Metropolitan sector hospital for plastic surgery; it was closed for this purpose in 1959 when the unit moved to Queen Mary's Hospital Rosehampton. Rooksdown then reverted to the Park Prewett Hospital.
