A new User Advisory Group has been set up to provide an opportunity for users of The National Archives to get involved in the organisation's planning and decision-making processes at an earlier stage and more strategic level than ever before.

Delegates in the group will be representing different sections of our user community, not only their own interests. As well as attending meetings of the group itself, each delegate will cascade the details of the User Advisory Group meetings to members of their user community and gather feedback from them.

Meetings will be held at The National Archives in Kew four times a year. Dates of forthcoming meetings are:

  • Tuesday 12 June 2012
  • Tuesday 11 September 2012
  • Tuesday 18 December 2012
  • Tuesday 19 March 2013

User communities represented

The sections of the user community represented are:

  • on site personal interest researchers
  • independent (paid) researchers
  • academic researchers
  • researchers based primarily in the Map and Large Document reading room
  • researchers interested in the diversity / inclusion / access agenda
  • county / external archives
  • genealogical / family history societies

Initially, a member of staff from The National Archives will take part in the group as the delegate for those users who primarily or exclusively use our online services. To contact this delegate, please email user.forum@nationalarchives.gov.uk.

Over the coming year, we will be exploring other ways of representing our online users.

Please see the list below for the names and email addresses of individual delegates.
