It is estimated that approximately one in ten soldiers were discharged to pension during World War One. British Army First World War service records (catalogue reference Series WO 364) including those of soldiers discharged on account of sickness or injuries sustained during the War, are available to download from Ancestry.co.ukExternal website - link opens in a new window for a fee. You can access these images free on site at The National Archives in Kew.

It is essential when using these records to have as much information about the soldier you seek.
