Articles of agreement made and Concluded the Twelfth Day of Aprill Anno Dni One Thousand Seven hundred & thirty five & in the Eighth Year of the Reign of Our Soveraign Lord George the Second by the grace of God King Over Great Britain France & Ireland Defender of the Faith &c. Between Rupert Dovey of Stourbridge in the County of Worcester Gent of the One part & Thomas Pearsall of Hawn in the County of Salop Gent. & Thomas Pearsall the Younger Eldest Son of the aforesaid Thomas Pearsall of the Other part as follows (Vizt.)
Imprmis the said Rupert Dovey for & in Consideracion of the Sum of One hundred & five pounds & five shilling of good & lawfull money of Great Britain to him in hand paid by the sd Thomas Pearsall the Elder at the ensealing hereof the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge & thereof acquitt release & Discharge the said Thomas Pearsall the Elder his Exeors & Admors Shall and will take the said Thomas Pearsall the Younger to be his Clerk with him to dwell as a Clerk from the twenty fifth day of March last past for & during the term & unto the full and & term of five Years during all which said time the said Rupert Dovey Shall employ teach & Instruct the said Thomas Pearsall the Younger in the practice & profession of An Attorney in the Court of Comon Pleas which he now useth as much as in him lies and Shall and will also allow Unto his said Clerk during the said term Sufficient & Wholsome meat Drink and lodging & the said Thomas Pearsall the Elder & Thomas Pearsall the Younger in Consideration of the promises doe hereby for themselves their heirs Exeors and Admors jointly & Severally Covenant & Agree to & with the said Rupert Dovey his heirs Exeors Admors & Assigns That he the said Thomas Pearsall the Younger shall dwell with and Serve the said Rupert Dovey for a Clerk for the said term of five Years & during all that time Shall & will with his best Skill & diligence Doe & Perform Such business as the said Rupert Dovey Shall employ him in & thereof from time to time give a just accompt as also of What he Shall receive & Lay Out of & for the said Rupert Dovey & Shall not neglect the affairs Nor absent himself from the house & Chambers of the said Rupert Dovey without his leave at any time during the said term & also Shall & will keep Secret his Masters business & Not disclose discover or make publick the Same to any person or persons whatsoever. And further that the said Thomas Pearsall the Elder Shall & will during the said term find & provide for his Said Son Sufficient & decent apparrell becoming the profession he hath sett him to & all manner of Washing & likewise provide for the Said Thomas Pearsall the Younger an horse for all Journeys he Shall go to London with his said Master during the said term the Master finding horse meat for the horse to & from London & whilst he Stays there and also if the Said Thomas Pearsall the Younger Shall receive at any time any Sum or Sums of money of or for the said Rupert Dovey or by his Order & the Same Loose Spend or make away or shall Imbezzill Loose Conceal deface or destroy any records deeds or writings Comitted to his Custody or Care or deliver up any deeds or writings otherwise than by the Order of the Said Rupert Dovey that then & So often the Said Thomas Pearsall the Elder his heirs Executors & Admors Shall within one month next after Notice thereof to him or them given in writing or left at his or their usuall place of abode make Sufficient recompense Satisfaction & payment unto the said Rupert Dovey his exeors admors & assigns of & for all Such mony & writings had and received by or Comitted to the Custody or Care of him the said Thomas Pearsall the Younger & by him imbezilled lost Spent & made away with as aforesaid And the Said Rupert Dovey doth hereby for himself his heirs Executors and Administrators Covenant and grant to & with the said Thomas Pearsall the Elder his Executors Administrators and Assigns that if the Said Rupert Dovey Shall happen to dye within One Year after the Commencement of these presents then and in Such Case the Executors and Administrators of the said Rupert Dovey shall pay or Cause to be paid Unto the said Thomas Pearsall the Elder the Sum of Seventy pounds and if after One Year & before the end of two Years forty pounds and after two Years & before the end of three Years then the Sum of Thirty pounds The Said money to be repaid within three months next after the decease of the said Rupert Dovey happening in manner aforesaid In witness Whereof the parties above Named to these present Articles their hands & seals Interchangeably have sett the day and Year first above Written:
