Immigrants to Britain

Britain is a nation of immigrants, and has been so since it became an island separated from the continent. Immigration to Britain came in waves over the centuries; some people came as conquerors, others as merchants and traders, others as economic migrants and others as refugees escaping tyranny, despotism or revolution.
