Campaign medals awarded to officers and men are in the series WO 100 and are arranged in date order, by war or campaign.

Gallantry and Meritorious Service awards are in different series. The Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) submissions from 1854 to 1901 are in WO 146 and from 1901 in WO 32 code 50S. The register of those awards granted between 1855 and 1920 are in WO 391. The register of the recipients of the Victoria Cross from 1856 is in series WO 98, link: www.victoriacross.net/default.asp.

Long Service and Good Conduct awards for soldiers who had served for eighteen years are in series WO 102 and cover the period from 1831 to 1920.

Meritorious Service Medal awards to sergeants and warrant officers from 1846 to 1919 are in series WO 101.

First World War Campaign medals

Campaign medals were awarded to officers and men who saw active service overseas. They are in the series WO 329. There are microfiche indexes of the medal index cards. These have been digitized and made available on DocumentsOnline.

Gallantry and Meritorious Service

Gallantry and Meritorious Service awards will appear in the London Gazette. The Military Cross and Distinguished Service Order are indexed in WO 389. The register for the Distinguished Conduct Medal is in series WO 391. There is no register for the Military Medal nor have any citations (recommendations) survived, but there is a series of index cards on microfiche, WO 372. These cards also include indexes to the Distinguished Conduct Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. The register for the Victoria Cross is in series WO 98, http://www.victoriacross.net/default.asp.
