Women´s Royal Air Force

The Women´s Royal Air Force (WRAF) was formed at the same time as the RAF on 1 April 1918. Some of the women came from the Women´s Army Auxiliary Corps but the majority were new entrants. The WRAF was disbanded in 1919 and not reformed until 1939.

WRAF Other Ranks

Records of service for women serving in the WRAF between 1918 and 1919 are in the series AIR 80. The series is arranged alphabetically so no service number is required to search them. The records consist of single sheets for each individual giving basic details of service.

No records of service for officers of the WRAF from 1918 and 1919 have survived.
