Airmen and non commissioned officers

The RAF muster of 1 April 1918, AIR 1/819/204/4/1316, lists by service number all men on the strength of the new service. The muster gives date of enlistment into the service, their trade, period of engagement and rate of pay.

Service papers are in the series AIR 79 and are arranged by service number. A nominal index is available on microfilm in the series AIR 78. Service numbers go up to 329000, but records of men who saw service in the Second World War are not included as they are still held by the Ministry of Defence. http://www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/raf.html.
