The Catalogue

The registers in IR 26Links to the Catalogue are arranged by date of probate or issue of the grant of administration. They cover all probate courts, but only for the wealthier strata of society.

There are further indexes in IR 27Links to the Catalogue

Only about a quarter of estates are included until 1805, but by 1857 there should be an entry for all estates above £20 in value.

The indexes and registers are available at The National Archives.
