What was life like for the thousands of Merchant Seamen facing danger from the air above, as well as the water beneath them during the war at sea? Discover the wealth of records which deal with the tragedy, terror, heroism and honour of the Merchant Navy in both World Wars.
Janet Dempsey is a record specialist with the Maritime and Transport team. She has worked at the National Archives for five years and, as well as Merchant Navy records, is currently working with the records for Customs and Excise, Royal Marines and the Coastguard.
This is a free event. Tickets will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis on the day and cannot be booked in advance.
