Metadata and cataloguing
The Metadata and cataloguing project identified the requirements for editorial intervention in various constituent projects of Seamless Flow. It established and developed the technical and editorial processes for the provision of that editorial function and for the creation of good archival metadata.
This project included the following areas:
- Definition of record metadata
- Provision of a catalogue capability
Project status July 2008
The project confirmed the definitive metadata list in conjunction with the Metadata Transfer Working Group who were working with Machinery of Government and Digital Continuity initiatives to ensure consistency of metadata across government. Work on developing new processes and procedures for cataloguing intervention is complete and have been incorporated into the Transfer System.
The Record Management and Cataloguing Department's Catalogue Strategy will continue to develop guidelines and best practice for electronic records management.
With the completion of all key deliverables, the End Project Report was approved and the project has been closed.
