Quarter Sessions : Murder of Thomas Ferrys

18 July 13 Eliz. On the said day at Hakney (sic) in the highway leading between Kyngsland and Newyngton John Sheppard lais Coxe late of London shomaker assaulted Thomas Ferrys a bocher and gave him 'a meate knyfe' in the fore part of his body, on the left side of his breast, a mortal wound of which he then and there died instantly. Putting himself guilty, John Sheppard was sentenced to be hung. GDR [1571]
