Rescued slaves aboard a Dhow (FO 34/1310)
Students are introduced to documents from Colonial and Treasury records relating to Britain's involvement in the transatlantic slave trade and its abolition.
Students consider documents relating to Africa before the trade and then consider why and how the trade expanded. They also discuss resistance and rebellion amongst the enslaved.
A pack of preparation materials will be sent to teachers in advance of the session.
