This extract comes from a letter written on 11 September 1759. It sets out the various troop movements of the British forces in North America.
The fighting was between Britain and France for control of North America. It lasted from 1756-63 and so was known as the Seven Years War.
Britain eventually won this war. One of the decisive battles came in 1759. General Wolfe, mentioned in this letter, captured the French stronghold of Quebec.
