This cartoon was published in the British journal The New Statesman on 23rd
April 1965.
At the time of the cartoon the British Prime Minister was Harold Wilson
and the US President was Lyndon Johnson.
The caption shows what Johnson is saying to Wilson in 1965 as the US forces
have been committed to Vietnam.
The building in the background is the White House.
Both Britain and the USA had fought several campaigns against Communist
uprisings in Malaya in the 1960s. Wilson was criticised for following US policy
too closely in order to stay on good terms with the USA.
