- This document was written in May 1945 by the Defence
Chiefs of Staff. These were the leading military commanders of all the Armed
Forces in Britain.
- At the time they were writing tension was mounting
over the Communist takeovers in Eastern Europe.
- The document was very long and set out what Stalin's
aims appeared to be. It also made predictions about how strong the USSR would
be by the mid 1950s.
- This section - Section 33 - is a summary of the
whole document and explains what the military leaders think Britain's policy
should be in 1947 and after.
