Help - Site Guide

  1. Enter DocumentsOnline
  2. Search the records. There are 3 ways to do this:
    - In the Search box, type the name of the individual or keywords related to what you’re looking for, then click ‘Search’.
    - Click on ‘Advanced search’ to be taken to a detailed search form.
    - Click on ‘Browse’ to be taken to a list of our collections. Click on a collection to search within it.
  3. After searching you should be presented with a list of results. You may need to click on the relevant collection, for example WW1 Campaign Medals or Wills.
  4. Browse through the results and click on ‘See details’ for the items that interest you.
  5. Click on ‘Add to Shopping’ if you want to buy the document.
  6. You now have the option to ‘Continue shopping’ or go to the ‘Checkout’. The basket holds a maximum of 15 items.
  7. If you choose to checkout, you will be asked to enter your email address twice.
  8. If you have selected free items, click on ‘Proceed with your download’ and you will be taken to the download page where you can download your documents.
  9. If you have chosen chargeable items, click on ‘Enter payment details’ and you will be directed to a secure site hosted by The Royal Bank of Scotland.
  10. Change the country of your bank, click ‘Select’ and then enter your card details.
  11. After making payment, you will be directed back to DocumentsOnline. A receipt page will be displayed so that you can download your image.
  12. We will also send you an email containing a link to your order. This remains active for 56 days.
  13. Remember to save the document to your computer so that you can access it in the future.
