Notes
The theme and style of this design suggests that it could be by Dr Christopher Dresser, although this attribution has yet to be proven. Compare with a design for a tile depicting Japanese Crane flying over waves signed by Christopher Dresser c. 1870. Joan Jones Minton, The First Two Hundred Years of Design & Production, page 180 where it is noted that 'Elements of this design were also used to decorate tableware and ornamental ware'.
