Wytschaete was ‘Whitesheet’ to the British soldiers and it became particularly well known in this country in 1917. This map has Whitesheet approximately in the middle of it and is on the 1:10,000 scale. It contains much more detail about the British lines than is often the case. The trenches are as in April, 1917, and the aforementioned British lines run from the canal, to St. Eloi then to below Spanbroekmolen. Note the mine craters just outside the British front on the road from Kemmel and those along the German lines (South East of St. Eloi and under name trench and the Nag’s Nose).
