These extracts are from Admiral Seymour's reports of his actions on 11 July 1882 culminating in the bombardment of Alexandria. The first, from a short despatch dated 19 July, notes the rejection of the British ultimatum moments before the bombardment began; the second, dated 20 July, gives details of the bombardment itself. Note the reference to the actions of HMS Condor.
