The National Monuments Record of Scotland exists to compile and maintain a record of the archaeological and historical environment.Reprographics include digital images, digital print-outs, photographs, full-size copies, photocopies, lasercopies.
A searchable database, Canmore, includes index to collection items held at RCAHMS. Searchable online databases offer an index to the collection items held at RCAHMS and information on 275,000 buildings and sites, as well as access to 100,000 digital images.
Three booklets provide information on the work and holdings of RCAHMS, as well as a published Annual Review.
RCAHMS has been identifying, surveying and interpreting the built environment in Scotland for over a hundred years. Its archive provides unique insights into Scotland' places, documenting how the national archaeological, industrial and architectural environment has changed over time. More than 4.5 million items, including photographs, maps, drawings and documents, are available through the RCAHMS search room. RCAHMS also looks after Scotland's national collection of historical aerial photography.
