The CEO and other directors of The National Archives meet annually with leaders of the leading British professional historical bodies:

• The British Academy
• The Historical Association
• The History of Parliament Trust
• The Institute for Historical Research
• The Royal Historical Society

The purpose of the meetings is to develop trust and understanding between The National Archives and its key academic stakeholders. They are occasions when The National Archives and the leaders of the academic historical associations can share news and concerns about future developments, and can agree on the development of joint positions and activities to ensure the development of the archival services which underpin scholarly historical research in the UK.
