Changes taking place at Kew

Changes are now underway and will continue to early summer 2008. We are continually updating this page as soon as any new changes are announced.

Service What is changing/ has changed?
Talks and lectures A new series of talks has now started.
Reader's Ticket Two forms of identitification are now required to obtain a new Reader's Ticket or to renew an existing one.
Museum The new interactive museum, showcasing treasures from the archives, is now open following major refurbishment.
Library resources The refurbished library has re-opened.
New opening times We are now open at 09:00 on a Tuesday and 10:00 on a Wednesday. See our opening times.
Self-service copying payment card A new payment card system has been introduced in April 2008.

Coach parties and groups

New procedures are in place for coach party access to Kew.
Reception area and ground floor Registration for your Reader's Ticket has moved to the first floor. Security barriers have been removed from the ground floor.
Original document reading room New security barriers are in place at the entrance to the original document room.
Open reading room (microfilm, microfiche and computer terminals) A Reader's Ticket is no longer required to access these facilities.
Map and large document reading room New security barriers are in place at the entrance to the map and large document reading room.
Learning zone New welcome area for beginners and first time visitors to Kew. New facility to obtain your Reader's Ticket.
Restaurant New expanded restaurant and coffee bar is now open.
