Copy will of John Courtney of West Molland; requests burial in family aisle in the parish church; to the poor of Molland, £10; to the poor of Knowstone, Bishops Nympton, South Molton, Sampford Brett and Twitchen, £20; to sister Mary Paston, £50; sister Elizabeth Courtenay, £50; to Elizabeth Busvargus, wife's maid, £200; to servant Elizabeth Jenkins, £50; to servant Thomas Blackford, £20; to Joseph Man, senior, £20; to bailiff John Mogford, £10; to servants Thomas Taylor, William Dewey, Charles Hawke, John Hoskins and William Hodgson, £10 each; to each other servant £1; lands in Winkleigh, Wembworthy, Ringsash, Chawleigh, Chumleigh, and South Molton to wife Margaret, and to have West Molland barton and Pulsworthy barton, Twitchen, for one year; to George Courtenay, testator's brother, remainder of lands not otherwise bequeathed, provided he does not molest Margaret, for his life and then of his children's lives, and if he dies without issue, then to testator's sisters Mary Paston and Elizabeth Courtenay; appoints wife Margaret as executrix.
