Probate and contemporary copy of the will of Giles Chichester of Arlington, esq., requests burial in his mother's grave at Arlington if he dies in Devon; personal estate to his wife Catherine on trust to pay debts and divide as follows: ¼ to his wife, ¼ to daughters and younger sons, and the other half to his eldest son then surviving, but subject to the following legacies: £10 to the poor of Arlington, £20 to his wife for her own use, 10/- to each servant, £5 and 20/- for a ring to sister Prudence, and £5 p.a. to each child becoming a priest or nun in one of the orders recognised by the Roman Catholic church; to wife an estate in Loxhore called Loxford Parks alias the Lords Parks and various items of silver and jewellery.
