Feoffment (indented) Master Roger Keys, John Parker, vicar of Staverton, John Arundell of Westbagburgh, and Davyd John To John Bernehouse Messuages, lands, etc. in Sperkewill, Kynston, Beare, [all in Staverton], Hempston Cantelowe, Kyngesbrygge, Doddebroke, Plymmouth, Alyngton, Alwyngton and Newton Abbot, which, among other lands, they, together with Richard Daber, clerk, and John Almyscomb, now dec'd, had of the gift of the said John Bernehouse. To hold to said John for his life, and after his death certain rooms and lands in Kyngston: i.e. 2 chambers and 2 low living-rooms ('celaria') under them; also the Chesechamber with the living-room under it; and a room called le Parler alias le base chamber, and half the garden called Culverhay, with a garden called Saseron garden; and a meadow called Newmede; and a close of land called Peseparke; (boundaries of all above premises given). to go to Joan his wife. And after her death, all the said messuages, lands, etc. to go to Thomas, son of said John, and his legitimate male heirs; and failing them similarly to Edward, Henry, David and William, all sons of said John; and failing these, to John Bernehouse and the heirs of him and his wife Joan, to John Bernehouse and his heirs, or, finally, to the right heirs of said John.
