20 Charles II Feofment (for marriage settlement). (1) John Hawkes the elder of Marwood, yeoman, and his son, John Hawkes the younger. (2) John Hammond of East Down, William Thorne of Marwood, and Thomas Tooker of Berrynarbor, yeoman. Messuages and lands in possession of (1) at Mudworthy (i.e. Muddiford), in the manor of Braunton Abbots. Consideration: £200, and intended marriage between John Hawkes the younger and Elizabeth, daughter of John Hammond. Recites that (2) are enfeoffed with the premises, to hold to the use of John Hawkes the elder and Elizabeth his wife for their lives, then to the use of John Hawkes the younger for life then to the use of Elizabeth Hammond.
