Letters, sermons, religious materials, leases and deeds.

The papers in this collection were deposited in the Record Office on 26 November 1979 (3197); 7 December 1979 (3197 -1) and 5 November 1980 (3197 -2). They were found in the Holland Street premises of the firm of Maldram and Jones, seedsmen of Barnstaple.

John and Ann Pile emigrated from North Molton to South Western Wisconsin, North America, in 1851, shortly after their marriage.

Extracts from their letters (3197 Z/F 2-9) have been published in the Newsletter of the Methodist Historical Society of the Plymouth and Exeter District, 1981. Charles Maldram, who features in 3197 Z/F 2-9 and 3197 -2, was a Wesleyan Methodist preacher for the South Molton and adjacent circuits and was the brother of Ann Pile.
