Description:

Inventory of the wardrobe of Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, entitled "The Booke of all his Lo. Robes at Courte or elcewher in ye charge of Thomas Edgeley and Alford Johnson, the XVth of June, anno Dni. 1588", with the note (f.1) that "This booke was perused by my Lo. himself", 31 May 1588. The separate headings are: "Night Gownes". f.1;- "Short Gownes", f.2:- "cape cloakes", f.3;- "Short cloakes, Long cloakes and Riding cloakes". f.4;- "Ryding slops" f.6;- "cassocks" f.8; "Hose paned and slops". f.9;- "Dubletts" f.11;- "Jerkins", f.14;- "Buttons, brooches and tags of poincts of golde". f.15;- "caps and Hatts" f.16;- "Boothose and Stockings". f.18;- "Rapiers and daggers with their girdles and hangers" f.20;- "Hangers, fawchions and woodknives" f.22;- "Buskins", f.23;- "Shooes, pumps, pantophels, stipers and bootes". f.24. At the end of each list is a note that the articles were delivered to the use of "My Lady" after the Earl's death, in Oct. and Nov. 1588.
