Description:

A. 1. Two Inventories of plate at Leicester House, the heading of the first torn away, the other headed "Delivered to the kepinge of Margaret Sacheverell at Leister house, the XXIXth Jan. 1585[6]. ff. 1, 6, 10.

 

2. "Sertayne perseles [parcels] of stuffe lefte in a cheste within the closett att Lester Houfse, the XXVIII of Jan. 1585" (?), including clothes, needlework, prayer books with embroidered covers, "sweett bagges", and miscellaneous articles. f.9b. The following was originally separate from the above:-

 

3 "The Inventarie of Leicester House, Wansteede and Kenellworthe", taken after the Earl's death (4 Sept. 1588) and appraised. The Kenilworth Inventory (f.25) is dated 28 Oct. 1588 and includes "all the householde stuf, armor, ordinaunce an other goodes within and aboute the castell". f.1. The pictures (f.33b) include "two greate tables of pictures of the Queene" valued at 40 sh, "two greate pictures of the Earle" at £4, a portrait of Lady Leicester (40sh.), a picture of Alexander the Great (40 sh), "XV lesser pictures at Xs a peece", and "XXiii pictures of lesser sorte at iis. via apiece".
