Title: GAMLINGAY (CAMBS.)
Held by: Berkeley Castle Muniments, not available at The National Archives
Language: English
Administrative / biographical background:

Stephen de Segrave granted the rent to John de Grey to hold for the life of his wife Emma, widow of Stephen's son John, in dower but it seems not to have reverted to the Segraves and, like Henlow, may have remained with the Greys. [In the 15th century the manor of Woodbury in Gamlingay was held of the Mowbrays as of their manor of Weston (Herts.), but Weston was a Bigod manor which came to the Mowbrays only in 1413: VCH Cambs. v. 72.]
