Seagrave was one of the family's five principal Leicestershire manors. Stephen de Segrave inherited holdings there from his father Gilbert, much having been acquired by Gilbert and his father Hereward from members of an apparently unrelated family also called de Segrave, Roger, his son Herbert and grandson Gilbert. The 1325 inquisitions post mortem record that the manor included rents from Markfield, Rearsby, Barrow-upon-Soar, Thrussington, Hoby and Grimston, and Burton Grange. It was among the manors settled on Richard III by William de Berkeley in 1484. See also below, BCM/D/5/46/5 [GCR 192].
