The firm of Albert Rhodes & Co., began in Heckmondwike in 1862 as wool merchants. In 1873 the spinning firm of George Rhodes and Son of Ing Mills, Heckmondwike, founded in 1820 was taken over, and woollen and worsted spinning added to the business of woolstapling. Spen Vale Mills which belonged to the company until the late 20th century were built a few years later. In 1967 part of Spen Vale Mills was sold and the name of the firm passed to the purchaser |
