Yorkshire Engine Company records. Established at Meadow Hall (Sheffield) 1865, making steam locomotives and rolling stock and from the 1950s diesel engines. The drawing office records were transferred to the Library when the Meadow Hall works closed. (Deposited 1965). Records including:

 

Order books (46 volumes) 1866-1964.

 

Engine plans from No.2 engine (1867), comprising plans of general arrangement 1867-1906 (incomplete series) and numerous plans of separate parts to 1950s.

 

Photographs of engines, etc: 1865-1949.

 

Weight books, giving weight of engine parts in individual orders.

 

Labour statistics, workmen employed, wages appropriation (for particular contracts), 1910-1948.

 

Rules for workmen employed, 1902.
