Administrative / biographical background: |
The company was formed in 1897 to build and run the Alhambra Theatre, Attercliffe Road. The company offices were at 21 York St., Sheffield. In 1921 the shares were purchased by the lessees of the theatre, A.R. Walker and O.M. Bennett. The name of the theatre was changed to the Palace and a new company, Palace Theatre Attercliffe Ltd. formed to lease the theatre from the Alhambra company. In 1957 the theatre site and the Alhambra company were bought by Brook Shaw Ltd |
