W. & G. Sissons Ltd, silver platers. (Now makers of sheet metal goods at Calver Mill, Derbyshire). A miscellaneous collection. (Donation 1975). Records including: Partnership deeds, traveller's pattern book (with sketches), records of goods with agents in Britain and Dublin, miscellaneous letters and accounts of Roberts and Cadman and Roberts, Smith & Co. (predecessors of Sissons), 1813-1840s (first deed 1786). Price lists for various processes 1890s-1930. Orders, ledgers, etc. 1870-1940s (the later ones relate to sheet metal purchases). Registration of the "Belle" trademark 1909-1946. Trade associations: Master Silversmiths of Sheffield - agreements with trade union 1920-1937 (printed information); Silversmith's Sick Society, financial matters and statements of account 1917-1930s. Maxfield Trust accounts and correspondence (following death of Joshua Maxfield 1899, of J. & J. Maxfield, spoon and fork manufacturers). Most of the correspondence is from B. Maxfield in Canada. 1900-1930 (some to 1939). John Jowett's Albion works and New Wheel: a few items 1920s. Added 1976: Roberts & Cadman, etc. Ledgers 1801-1903, invoice books 1825-1870, 1904-1907, stock returns 1833-1867, duplicate letter books 1869-1875, 1890-1900. Bound volumes of engraved designs for silver and plated ware (and a few hand coloured) c1798-c1842 and some early 20th century (Bell reproductions). John Jowett, maker of tools and sheep shears: order books, invoice books and ledger 1843-1871; duplicate letter books 1879-1893. J. Maxfield duplicate letter books (concerning a mining project) 1877-1886. |
