Official Fuhrer-Buch issued to Lauener at Interlaken in July 1856, and containing accounts and testimonials written by climbers who had engaged him as a guide. The first retrospective entry is for a trip made in the summer of 1855, but written into the book in 1856. The final entry is dated July 1891, although there are stamped permits for 1891 and 1892. Lauener died in 1900. Together with the book there is a photograph of Ulrich Lauener and his wife in 1899, possibly a copy of a photograph belonging to F.F. Tuckett. There are also two letters and a postcard to Claude Wilson from W.A.B. Coolidge, who borrowed the book for research purposes in February 1913. [4 items].

Physical condition: The cover of the book is rather worn, but it has been housed in a purpose-made leather-bound book-shaped box, which proably dates from the time it was acquired by the AC.ms
