Series Title: Mount Everest Correspondence re organisation of the 1938 expedition and afterwards. The suggestion had been made in the press by Bill Tilman that a small Everest expedition shoulf be mounted every year. This suggestion was not supported by the MEC, due to political considerations. The MEC wrote to all members of the 1938 expedition asking them not to make these suggestions publically. The file includes a reply from Frank Smythe, agreeing with the MEC, but announcing that he would not be going on any future expeditions anyway. Subject: Everest |
